Falafel wrap is an extremely delicious and filling falafel recipe from the Middle East. This wrap is filled with three of today’s most popular Middle Eastern dishes-hummus, falafel, and tahini. It is also served at any time of day. It is simple to make, healthy, and it adds a tremendous taste to any meal or snack.

 

The falafel wrap has been a favorite vegan falafel wrap recipe in the Arab world since the early 1900s. Before this, falafel was a staple dish for falafel patties that were served in street food in Arab nations such as Egypt, Jordan, and Tunisia. These patties were falafel calories filled with meat such as beef, lamb, or chicken; and they were then deep-fried to create a delicious falafel wrap.

I reduced the amount of fat and added more nutritious ingredients.

Falafel wrap recipe a decade ago, I decided it was time to try my hand at making a vegan falafel wrap. I have always wanted to create a vegan wrap because I love the taste of hummus like beetroot or cucumber hummus-like flavor in Greece. I also love anything with egg whipped cream, cheese, raisins, honey, walnuts, and almonds. I decided to try making a wrap that had both beetroot and hummus-like flavors, and this is how I came up with this awesome falafel wrap recipe.

 

I knew that part of my goal for this falafel recipe is to help you lower your fat and calorie intake, so I started by looking up which foods contain the least amount of fat and calories. For this falafel wrap recipe, I decided to use beetroot, since I love the taste of beetroot. Beetroot is available at most health food stores and even some supermarkets. In fact, I purchased two bags of this vegetable because I was going to make the wrap with a hummus-like taste.

 

Since I already had beetroot in my freezer, all I had to do was chop it up into smaller pieces. I used my favorite spices to give my falafel wrap a flavor everyone can appreciate. I used cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, anise seeds, and nutmeg. I highly recommend buying natural, organic spices if you are not allergic to them. I highly recommend using whole-grain flour instead of all-purpose flour. This way, you will get the fiber your body needs to feel full and satisfied throughout the entire falafel recipe wrap.

 

Once your ingredients are ready, it is time to assemble your masterpiece. You are now ready to make the delicious hummus-like dessert you have been dreaming about! To dress up the falafel sandwich, I served it with pita bread. To make the dip more appealing, I served it with fresh raw vegetables like cucumbers and tomatoes.

FALAFEL INGREDIENTS

Falafel is naturally gluten-free and made from a few simple ingredients. Here’s what’s in my recipe:

  • Chickpeas (Garbanzo Beans): Only use dried and soaked chickpeas, not canned chickpeas in this recipe. Canned chickpeas will be too soft and wet and your falafel will not form properly.
  • Onion: I use yellow onion for a slightly stronger flavor, but you could use white or red onion as well.
  • Parsley and Cilantro: These two delicious herbs inject heaps of flavor into your falafel and turn the inside a beautiful, vibrant green.
  • Garlic: Use fresh garlic cloves rather than garlic powder for the most robust flavor.
  • Green Chile Pepper (Serrano Pepper): A small pepper adds a kick of flavor and spice without overpowering the falafel. You can adjust this to more or less, but don’t omit it without trying it first – trust me.
  • Cumin, Cardamom, Salt, and Black Pepper: These aromatic spices are used often in Middle Eastern cooking and have an earthy, spicy, assertive flavor you’ll love.
  • Chickpea Flour: This helps to bind the mixture together and retain the shape while frying. I prefer chickpea flour, but you could also use a gluten-free flour blend.
  • Baking Soda: A key ingredient for helping to provide the fluffy inside texture of the falafel.
  • Oil for Frying: I use avocado oil as it’s high-heat stable and my preferred cooking oil. But you could use vegetable oil as well.

 

Falafel Calories

Falafel calories to finish up the falafel sandwich, I served it with fresh, cold lemon juice. It is a refreshing alternative to traditional fruit juices. I also wanted to make sure that my guests are not left hungry when they were done eating my hummus-like recipe wrap. To make sure my guests are kept well-fed, I prepared a protein drink for them. I paired it with the falafel wrap and people were not let down by the taste of this delicious dessert!

 

I believe there is no other falafel recipe better than the falafel calories! I was not able to find the exact falafel recipe online, so I cannot vouch for its taste. However, I can say that I was really surprised by the unique taste of falafel. I look forward to enjoying it again!
